1956 LaDawri Conquest

Leslie Albert Dawes built this car in Vancouver.  The Dawes family rode down to California in this car to begin LaDawri Coachcraft Inc. operations there.  This car's whereabouts are unknown.  Joan Dawes describes the car as scary and fast.

Conquest1PNE.jpg (149775 bytes)Wonder Plexiglass sports car is demonstrated by its builder Les Dawes, and wife, Joan, of 4106 Penticton street, Vancouver.  The car, powered with a Cadillac 310 horse-power engine, can hit speeds of over 120 mph, thanks to sleek design and light (1850 lbs) weight.  Owner took 3 1/2 years to build the car, on display at the Motorama and hit of the Pacific National Exhibition hobby show.                   -Columbian photo by Stan Walter
