1961 February
Show Book from 11th Annual National Autorama at Hartford, CT
Nick Christiano's show car is pictured

The "Nick" car I saw was indeed a Conquest show car...white Pearl paint
with candy-colored graphics all over it. It was mounted on a Vette
chassis and have a Chevy V-8 engine that was dressed for show. I believe it was
shown in one or two of the Hartford Auto Shows back in 1959 give-or-take a year
or so. Over the years, I have looked to find copies of the Hartford Auto
Show publications, but never even found a single reference to one. I seem to
recall seeing one that Nick had showing his car. As I recall, the car was
actually not finished...maybe not even drivable, but it looked pretty flashy.
As I recall, it was an open car with no top, not even a hardtop. I believe that
I took some photos of the car at that time, but none appear to be in my boxes of
La Dawri "stuff". The "Nick" car was the very first other La Dawri that I managed to
track down and I actually drove to Hartford just to take a look at and talk with the owner.

LADAWRI REFERENCED PUBLICATIONS:

* La Dawri refers to a set of six books called SPOTLITE BOOKS in both their sales literature and their assembly manuals.  Although unreferenced as to source, it has been determined that these books are part of a series that Petersen Publishing offered during the 1962-63 period.  These books were part of the HOT ROD Technical and/or Custom Library and were part of a continuing series of publications intended as information references on a wide variety of subjects.  They were published as 50-to-70 page booklets in a 5-1/4" x 7-3/4" format.  The following books were referenced and include the Petersen Publishing book identification numbers:

S-519 WIRING SYSTEMS, by Don Francisco
S-520 STEERING and CHASSIS, by HOT ROD Editors
S-521 CLUTCHES and TRANSMISSIONS, by John Lawler
S-524 CUSTOM UPHOLSTERING, by George Barris
S-525 CUSTOM PAINTING TECHNIQUES, by George Barris
S-527 CUSTOM CAR WHEELS & LOWERING, by George Barris

See Pictures above (not one of the six referenced)
