This Meteor is listed as car #40
in the Clive Cussler Museum Collection.
Dick Jones left Compton CA in 1955 with the Meteor
molds to start a new day job as an engineer in Colorado. The white Cussler
Meteor was a Colorado built Dick Jones body.
In the mid 1980's it was offered for sale in un-restored condition
out of Boulder Colorado. The seller advertised as a Cunningham and
it was at one of the T-bird Club 'Polar Bear' swap meets prior to
being restored. When Clive got it as a "Cunningham" for his
collection, the Meteor ID was not yet known. Dick Jones lives near
the Museum and saw it one day. He provided Clive with its
background. With a correct history, Clive's museum staff began the
top notch restoration you see today. This Meteor is powered with a
1952 DeSoto Hemi, and rides on mid-60's Pontiac Grand Prix wheels.
About 25 years of the cars history from 1955 is missing. It is
thought to have always been in Colorado.

This 1952
Meteor race car convertible with DeSoto Fire Dome V-8 power
attracted a final bid of $31,000, but did not sell. It is the only
one of its kind known to be restored.
Among unusual
vehicles was a 1952 Meteor convertible, one of approximately 25
created by California custom car builder Dick Jones. For 15 years it
had been in the collection of author Clive Cussler, best known for
his book Raise the Titanic. It drew a high bid of $31,000, but did
not sell.
