Motorama

While most people associate the term "Motorama" with GM's spectacular events and cars of the 1950's, few remember that R.E. Petersen, founder of Hot Rod Magazine, consistently offered a different Motorama experience from 1950 to 1955.  Petersen's Los Angeles based Motoramas featured Bonneville cars, Drag cars, Hot Rods, Custom Cars, Motorcycles, and most importantly in 1951...the introduction of America's first fiberglass cars.

Thanks to Greg Sharp, Curator of the NHRA museum, for his loan of the Motorama programs, thereby making these historical documents available to you.

Below you will see the programs from each of Motoramas.  We are in the process of expanding the information to include pictures taken during the shows, magazine articles printed during the time and interviews with both participants and people who attended the shows.  We excitedly await for any new information in these areas, and look forward to sharing your experiences with everyone as well.  If you would like to contribute in any of these areas, please contact us through the About Us link above.

When you click on one of the programs below, the entire program will become available.
