Jon,
One of the pictures I have is a black and white at the Cleveland
autorama in the '60s. It is sitting next to what looks
like a Rat rod or Barris glass body car. What I know about
the car is that a guy named Paul Wharton who was a plant manager
at Fruehauf Corp brought the unfinished car here from Calf. when
he got transferred. He was transferred again and sold it to my
Grandfather because he was tired of hauling it around the
country, my dad then finished it, drove it and showed it.
My dad was one of first Porsche VW certified mechanics in
northeast Ohio. He also had a dealership called American Imports
he sold the first Datsun in the Midwest. He also sold
Griffiths, wish I had one of those as well. The car's
nickname was, "Katsass." It is built on a Buick
chassis with a corvette front suspension and grill. Its powered
by a Buick Nailhead V8 with 6 Stromberg 90 carbs, 3 speed manual
gearbox. It has Chrysler true spokes with P.A. turnpike
500 tires. The steering wheel was custom made to open up
to make getting in and out possible, The interior was also all custom made.
